Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants

It has been tough sledding for Rockies starting pitcher McCade Brown, who bypassed the AAA minor league level before making his MLB debut. He’s posted a 7.54 ERA with 1.6 home runs and six walks allowed per nine innings, while being backed up by a bullpen that ranks 29th in the league with a 5.22 ERA. The Giants, meanwhile, are fourth in bullpen ERA at 3.51 and send Logan Webb to the mound. Webb owns a 3.30 ERA with 9.6 strikeouts and 0.6 home runs per nine innings this season, along with a 2.68 fielding independent. He’ll face a Rockies lineup that is last in the league in run creation away from home, averaging fewer than 2.9 runs per game.

Picks: Giants Run Line -1.5 -130 and Over 7.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicap Giants -1.5 -182 and Total 7.9)

Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees

Yankees starting pitcher Luis Gil has not been as sharp as his 3.28 ERA suggests, with 6.8 strikeouts and 5.4 walks per nine innings allowed. However, he has done a good job preventing hard contact, allowing just 0.5 home runs per nine innings. He’ll face an Orioles lineup that ranks last in the American League in run scoring away from home at 3.9 runs per game. Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish has been exceptional in his five starts since returning from the injured list, posting a 2.25 ERA with 12.5 strikeouts per nine innings and just two home runs allowed in 28 innings.

Pick: Baltimore Orioles vs. New York Yankees Under 9.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicapped Total 8.6)

Cincinnati Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Reds starting pitcher Brady Singer was roughed up for four runs in his last start, but overall has been in solid form, allowing two runs or fewer in eight of his past 11 starts. He owns a 3.95 ERA with one home run allowed per nine innings. Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has a sterling 2.68 ERA this season, though his 3.62 fielding independent and 3.4 walks per nine innings are concerns. Still, he’s backed by a Brewers lineup that leads the league in scoring since the All-Star Break with over 5.3 runs per game.

Picks: Brewers Moneyline -130 and Over 7.5 Runs (Greg’s Handicap Brewers -156 and Total 7.9)

New York Mets vs. Miami Marlins

Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera owns a 3.66 ERA with 9.7 strikeouts and 2.9 walks per nine innings this season, doing his best work at home with a 2.91 ERA and just 0.7 home runs allowed per nine innings. Mets starting pitcher Sean Manaea enters with a 5.80 ERA and two home runs allowed per nine innings. The Mets’ 33–46 road record entering Saturday was the third-worst in the National League.

Pick: Marlins Moneyline +105 or better (Greg’s Handicap Marlins +103)

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Atlanta Braves

The Pirates offense has struggled overall this season, ranking last in scoring with 3.6 runs per game, but they’ve shown some life, averaging 4.1 runs per game over their last 32 contests. They’ll look to spoil the sendoff for Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton, who is making his final career start. Morton has struggled to a 5.89 ERA with 1.5 home runs and 4.5 walks per nine innings. Pirates starter Johan Oviedo has allowed two runs or fewer in seven of his eight appearances this season, posting a 3.57 ERA, though regression may be looming with his 1.3 home runs and 5.1 walks per nine innings allowed leading to a 4.73 fielding independent.

Picks: Pirates Moneyline +180 and Over 8 Runs (Greg’s Handicap Pirates +142 and Total 8.7)
