Los Angeles Angels vs. Houston Astros

Angels starting pitcher Joel Soriano was very good in road games last season, posting a 2.91 ERA with 0.4 home runs per nine innings allowed compared to a 5.90 ERA with one home run allowed per nine innings at home. Astros starting pitcher Hunter Brown had a stellar 2.43 ERA with 10 strikeouts and 0.8 home runs per nine innings allowed, while the Astros lineup was 25th in runs per game at home with just over 3.9 runs per game. The Angels were also 25th in overall run scoring with 4.15 runs per game.

Pick: Angels vs. Astros Under 8 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Total 7.6

Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal had some controversy at the World Baseball Classic but still got in a good spring workload as he looks for his third straight Cy Young Award after posting a 2.21 ERA with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 7.3. Padres starter Nick Pivetta was at his best when pitching at home last season, as he had a 2.36 ERA at home with 0.8 home runs per nine innings allowed while registering a 3.55 ERA with over 1.4 home runs per nine innings allowed on the road.

Pick: Tigers -126 and Under 7 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Tigers -138 and Total 6.2

Boston Red Sox vs. Cincinnati Reds

Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet’s 2025 season was tremendous, posting a 2.59 ERA with 11.2 strikeouts and two walks per nine innings while being supported by a lineup that ranked sixth in scoring with 4.8 runs per game, but lost Alex Bregman in the offseason. Reds starting pitcher Andrew Abbott looks for an encore of his solid 2025 season, as he posted a 2.87 ERA with just 2.3 walks per nine innings.

Pick: Reds +140 and Under 8 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Reds +135 and Total 7.4

Texas Rangers vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Both pitchers are coming off stellar 2025 seasons, with Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi posting a 1.73 ERA with 0.7 home runs and 1.5 walks allowed per nine innings. Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez had a 2.50 ERA with 0.5 home runs and two walks per nine innings allowed and faces a Rangers lineup that was 22nd in run creation last season with 4.2 runs per game. Meanwhile, the Phillies picked up Adolis Garcia from Texas to replace Nick Castellanos, who had just 19 home runs and a .271 on-base percentage last season.

Pick: Rangers +138 and Under 8 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Rangers +128 and Total 7.3

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

After a down 2025 season that saw Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen post a 4.83 ERA with career worsts of 1.5 home runs and 8.3 strikeouts per nine innings, he looks to build off the fact that he finished the season in better form, posting a 3.97 ERA with fewer than 2.5 walks per nine innings after the All-Star break. Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto was the MVP of the 2025 World Series after posting a 2.49 ERA with just 0.7 home runs per nine innings in a solid regular season and is supported by a Dodgers lineup that led the league in scoring at home with 5.4 runs per game.

Pick: Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers Under 9 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Total 7.9
