St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins 6:40 PM ET

Xavier Edwards Over 1.5 Total Bases (+121 per DraftKings)

In game 1 of the Cardinals vs. Marlins series, the Marlins secured the win in an exciting 5-3 game, where the Cardinals tried to rally late. Xavier Edwards had himself a great game where he recorded a double in 2 ABs, along with 2 walks. The Marlins shortstop is typically more of a contact guy (which he’s really good at), but he can run into some extra-base hits from time to time. He is currently on pace to almost double his highest number of extra-base hits in a season of 28, with 50 extra-base hits. Edwards has recorded hits in all of his last 5 games, and has exceeded 1.5 total bases in two of those games. The Cardinals will be starting Dustin May, who Edwards has seen before, and is 1 for 3, with just a single to show for it at the moment. With Edwards being comfortable at home, and having seen May before, I think we could see a solid game out of him this evening.

Atlanta Braves vs. Washington Nationals 6:45 PM ET

Reynaldo Lopez Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+100 per DraftKings)

Lopez took a few games to get the strikeout pitch working, but since his first 2 starts he has recorded 7 and 6 strikeouts, respectively. He hasn’t pitched against Washington since the 2024 season, where he had 7 Ks in his first appearance and second appearance, and just 1 K in his third appearance, though he only had 1 inning pitched in that game. This Nationals team is also relying on a lot of young bats in their lineup, which can lead to a lot of swing and miss, especially with a guy who is rounding into mid-season form. If Lopez can get close to his current season average of 5.05 innings pitched, he will have a great opportunity to record 5 or more strikeouts today.

James Wood 2+ Total Bases (+149 per DraftKings)

Young Nationals slugger James Wood has hit a slight rough patch over his last 2 games, going a combined 0 for 7, but when Wood makes contact, the ball is going a long way. In the 18 games in the month of April, Wood has recorded 41 total bases, and they come in spurts. There’s rarely a game in which Wood has a hit and his total bases are under 2. He has only faced Reynaldo Lopez once, where he went 1 for 2, and has a 1.750 OPS. On the season he has also been better against righties, with a .242 batting average with an .561 slugging percentage, versus a .226 batting average and a .516 slugging percentage against lefties. Though Wood still has a lot to learn as an MLB hitter, I expect him to run into at least 1 extra-base hit this evening, leading him to cover the 2+ total bases.

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Mets 7:10 PM ET

Nolan McLean Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-110 per DraftKings)

Yesterday the New York Mets had a much-needed day off, though their losing streak is still very much alive at 11 games now. One of the few bright spots for the Mets this season has been pitcher Nolan McLean, who has a 2.28 ERA and a 0.76 WHIP in 23.2 innings pitched. In all but 1 game this season, McLean has recorded 8 strikeouts, and in the lone game where he recorded just 4, it was against an Arizona Diamondbacks team, who is one of the least struck-out teams in the MLB.

The Twins team the Mets will be playing tonight is in the top half of the league for most strikeouts this season with 193. McLean also has the added benefit of not having faced the vast majority of this Twins lineup, with all but 1 player seeing him for the very first time.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Chicago Cubs 7:40 PM ET

Adolis Garcia Over 1.5 Total Bases (+116 per DraftKings)

Adolis Garcia has a favorable matchup this evening against left-hander Shota Imanaga. The Phillies have already faced him this year, where Garcia had a solid 2 for 4 performance, where he recorded 3 total bases. As a whole this season, Garcia has been much better against left-handed pitching, batting .250 with a .450 slugging percentage.

With this Phillies team continuing to struggle, they will need a good game out of a big-time hitter like Garcia for the offense to build momentum.
