Colorado Rockies vs. New York Mets 7:10 PM ET
Freddy Peralta Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-156 per DraftKings)
Don’t look now, but the New York Mets find themselves on a 2-game winning streak. They start a new series today at home against the Colorado Rockies, and they kick off the series with Freddy Peralta on the mound, who has had the strikeout pitch working early this season. He currently has 28 strikeouts on the season, which comes out to just 5.6 per game.
The big outlier was in his last start against the Cubs, where he had just 3 Ks, but the Cubs aren’t a high-volume strikeout team. The Rockies, on the other hand, have been very much prone to striking out this season, as they currently rank toward the top of the league for most strikeouts with 239 thus far, behind only the Los Angeles Angels.
We also see the current game total in this game is 7.5, indicating sportsbooks expect this to be a low-scoring affair. With the combination of Peralta’s impressive 4-pitch mix, and the Rockies’ strikeout woes, I think Peralta will be able to put up some numbers in the K department this evening in the Big Apple.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves 7:15 PM ET
Trea Turner Under 1.5 Hits (-236 per DraftKings)
The second series between the Braves and the Phillies came quickly, as these teams played earlier this month; however, the Braves will be at home this time around. Atlanta will have Grant Holmes on the mound tonight, who only allowed 4 hits and 2 earned runs the first time these teams played.
Trea Turner is 1 for 4 against Holmes in his career with just a .650 OPS. Turner has been by no means the worst player in this Phillies lineup, but he is not living up to expectations, with a .225 average on the season and a .621 OPS. In the month of April, we’ve only seen Turner have 3 multi-hit games out of 20 games.
2 of those games were at the beginning of the month, and Turner has gone o-fer in 3 of the last 5 games. Until Turner, or frankly anyone in this Phillies lineup, shows some consistent life, it will be hard to back any of these players.
Atlanta Braves Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (-130 per DraftKings)
Embed from Getty ImagesPhiladelphia is rolling out their rookie Andrew Painter tonight, and this will be the second time this Braves order has seen him. In the previous meeting, Atlanta had a quality performance against him, as they accumulated 5 hits, 1 walk, 1 hit by pitch, and 3 earned runs.
While Painter is certainly on a strict pitch count right now, the Braves got him out of the game after 4 innings. Atlanta has managed to score 5 or more runs in 3 of their last 5 games, as well as 6 of their last 10 games. DraftKings also has the game total in this game at 9.5 runs, which is a substantial number, indicating they think a lot of runs will be generated in this one.
Given the Phillies’ struggles this season, and how good the Braves have been, I think the Braves will have no problem scoring over 4.5 runs tonight.
Washington Nationals vs. Chicago White Sox 7:40 PM ET
Daylen Lile Over 0.5 Hits (-245 per DraftKings)
Daylen Lile has been seeing the ball incredibly well over the last few games, as he has been batting .370 in his last 7 games. He has back-to-back multi-hit games and has recorded at least 1 hit in 4 of his last 5 games, as well as 8 of his last 10 games.
He will be facing lefty Bryan Hudson from the White Sox to start the evening, indicating the Sox are going with a bullpen game this evening. Bullpen games can be effective, but it’s certainly a challenge, as you need multiple guys out of the pen to be on their game that evening.
It’s certainly an edge for the Nats at the plate and given how good Lile has been as of late, it’s hard to not back him going into this game.
Miami Marlins vs. San Francisco Giants 10:15 PM ET
Sandy Alcantara Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-172 per DraftKings)
The Miami Marlins begin a little West Coast trip tonight; after coming off a big series win against the St. Louis Cardinals. They will be kicking things off against the Giants with their ace Sandy Alcantara on the mound, who has been an absolute workhorse this season.
He has kicked off his season with an impressive 35.1 innings pitched in 5 games, with a 2.80 ERA, and a 1.02 WHIP. He hasn’t gone deep in his recent 2 starts, but in his previous 3 starts he went 8.1 innings, 9.0 innings, and 7.0 innings.
To surpass the 17.5 outs recorded, he just needs 6.0 innings pitched, which he has done in 4 of his 5 starts. Since the Marlins are kicking off their 6-game West Coast trip, I’m sure they will want to save their bullpen, which will lead to more innings for Alcantara.
A lot of guys in the Giants lineup have yet to see Alcantara’s stuff, and many who have seen him have very few at-bats against him, giving another edge to Alcantara this evening.
