Washington Nationals vs. Cincinnati Reds 6:40 PM ET
James Wood Over 1.5 Total Bases (-106 per DraftKings)
The first NL East game on the slate today features the Washington Nationals taking on the Cincinnati Reds in Cincinnati. Every NL East team had yesterday off, giving clubs a chance to reset before beginning a new series.
James Wood has been absolutely mashing throughout the month of May, batting .265 with a .471 slugging percentage. While the slugging number could still climb higher, he has already recorded multiple total bases in 6 of his 9 games this month.
Wood has also seen Brady Singer before, recording a hit in just 2 ABs while posting a 1.500 OPS in the matchup. Singer has struggled badly this season, carrying a 5.63 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP through 38.1 innings pitched. His H/9 currently sits at 12.44, which is nearly 3.5 hits higher than his career average of 9.05.
Given Wood’s consistency this month combined with Singer’s struggles, this feels like another strong spot for the Nationals slugger to put together a productive game at the plate.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. Boston Red 6:45 PM ET
Phillies Under 4.5 Runs Scored (-130 per DraftKings)
The Philadelphia Phillies begin a 3-game series at Fenway Park tonight after securing yet another series victory against the Rockies. Over the last few weeks, the Phillies offense has looked much more consistent, but this matchup sets up as a tougher challenge.
The Boston Red Sox have done a solid job limiting runs recently, allowing more than 4.5 runs just once over their last 5 games and only 4 times over their last 10. Sportsbooks also currently list the game total at 8 runs, suggesting expectations of a relatively lower-scoring game.
Philadelphia will have Zack Wheeler on the mound, so Boston will likely go with Jovani Morán, who has been lights out this season with a 2.91 ERA.

Freddy Peralta will take the mound for the New York Mets tonight as they begin a new home series against the Detroit Tigers. Peralta is coming off a rough outing in the strikeout department, recording just 1 strikeout in 5.0 innings against the Rockies.
That outing dropped his K/9 to 8.93 this season, well below his career average of 11.05. However, one encouraging trend for Peralta is that he has historically been much better at generating strikeouts at home, which is exactly where he’ll be tonight.
Peralta has made 5 home starts this season and has surpassed 6.5 strikeouts in 2 of those outings. Detroit also ranks in the top half of baseball in strikeouts, sitting 13th in MLB with 341 strikeouts this season. The Tigers have been especially vulnerable on the road, where they have already struck out 204 times, the 8th-most in baseball.
After a disappointing strikeout performance last time out, this feels like a good bounce-back spot for Peralta to get the swing-and-miss stuff working again and rack up strikeouts against a free-swinging Tigers lineup.
Chicago Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves 7:15 PM ET
Matt Olson Over 1.5 Total Bases (+102 per DraftKings)
It is no secret that Matt Olson has been absolutely raking this season, especially in the month of May. His batting average is very slightly down this month at .294 — which is still extremely impressive — but his slugging percentage has been through the roof at .794.
Through the first 9 games of May, Olson has failed to surpass 1.5 total bases only twice, and many of those performances came against elite pitching staffs like the Mariners and Dodgers. Tonight, the Atlanta Braves begin a 3-game series at home against the Chicago Cubs.
Starting for Chicago tonight will be Colin Rea, who has actually been fairly solid this season with a 4.03 ERA and a 4-1 record. The problem for Rea is that Olson has seen him extremely well throughout his career, owning a .500 batting average across 8 ABs against him.
The Braves will also have the benefit of playing at home against a Cubs pitching staff facing one of the deepest lineups in baseball. Given Olson’s current form and his track record against Rea, this feels like another strong opportunity for a multi-total-base performance tonight.
Miami Marlins vs. Minnesota Twins 7:40 PM ET
Eury Perez Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+119 per DraftKings)
This is primarily a value play, but Eury Pérez has shown strong strikeout stuff throughout the season despite his ERA not looking particularly impressive. He still owns a solid 9.80 K/9, which is only slightly below his career average of 10.18.
Across his 8 starts this season, Pérez has recorded 6 or more strikeouts in 6 of those outings, showing just how consistently effective his swing-and-miss stuff can be when he’s locating well. Tonight he’ll face the Minnesota Twins, a lineup that has been very prone to strikeouts this season. Minnesota has already struck out 358 times at the plate, ranking 9th in MLB entering tonight’s slate.
While Target Field is generally considered a hitter-friendly environment, that typically has far less impact on strikeout props. If Pérez can continue attacking hitters early in counts and generating chase swings, he should be in a strong position to clear this number tonight.
