Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins 4:10 PM ET

Ozzie Albies Over 1.5 Total Bases (+102 per DraftKings)

It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing lately for Ozzie Albies, as he has recorded just 2 hits over his last 8 games, though he has managed to collect hits in each of his last 2 contests. Despite the recent slowdown, Albies still owns a strong .274 batting average on the season, while his .773 OPS sits almost perfectly in line with his career average of .774.

This afternoon the Atlanta Braves will face left-hander Braxton Garrett to begin the game. Garrett has made only one start this season, and it was a rough outing, as he lasted just 1.1 innings while allowing 4 hits, 5 walks, and 5 earned runs.

Albies has also enjoyed success against Garrett historically, batting .800 with a 2.033 OPS across 5 at-bats. One major factor working in Albies’ favor tonight is that he’ll likely spend most of the evening hitting from the right side, where he has traditionally been much stronger. This season, Albies is batting .308 with a .513 slugging percentage as a right-handed hitter, compared to a .250 average and .398 slugging percentage from the left side.

After yesterday’s disappointing performance, expect Atlanta’s lineup to come into this matchup aggressive and looking to bounce back offensively, which sets up nicely for Albies to produce multiple total bases.

Xavier Edwards Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-130 per DraftKings)

We’re riding with another switch hitter in this matchup, as Xavier Edwards continues to be one of the most consistent hitters in baseball. Edwards currently ranks 7th in MLB with a .322 batting average this season.

Like Albies, Edwards has been stronger hitting right-handed against lefties, batting an impressive .350 against southpaws this year. He’ll begin the game facing veteran lefty Martin Perez, who has been very effective this season with a 2.25 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and just a 5.75 H/9 through 36 innings pitched.

Edwards has only faced Perez once before, going 0-for-3, but it’s rare to see pitchers consistently keep him quiet for long stretches. He currently carries a 4-game hitting streak and has recorded at least one hit in 8 of his last 10 games.

Beyond the hits, Edwards has also contributed consistently in the runs and RBI categories. He has recorded RBIs in each of his last 2 games and scored at least one run in each of his last 3 games, as well as in 8 of his last 10 overall.

With the Miami Marlins swinging the bats extremely well recently, Edwards should continue to find plenty of opportunities to contribute offensively against a familiar divisional opponent.

Cincinnati Reds vs. Philadelphia Phillies 6:40 PM ET

Jesus Luzardo Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-147 per DraftKings)

The Philadelphia Phillies enter tonight riding a 5-game winning streak, and they’ll hand the ball to left-hander Jesus Luzardo, who has showcased elite swing-and-miss stuff throughout the season.

Luzardo has thrown 49.2 innings this year while posting 61 strikeouts, giving him an impressive 11.05 K/9 — a notable jump above his career average of 10.09. While his ERA sits at 5.07 alongside a 1.33 WHIP, the strikeout production has remained consistently strong.

He hasn’t piled up huge strikeout totals in his last two outings, recording 4 and 6 respectively, but the underlying stuff remains electric. That 6-strikeout performance also came in only 3 innings of work, showing just how dominant his strikeout ability can be when he’s locating well.

Luzardo has already surpassed the 6.5 strikeout mark in 5 of his 9 starts this season, and tonight’s matchup against the Cincinnati Reds presents another strong opportunity. Cincinnati currently ranks 5th in MLB in strikeouts with 435 on the season and has struggled with swing-and-miss issues throughout the year.

There is also a strong chance of precipitation this evening in Cincinnati, which can create difficult hitting conditions and further benefit pitchers with strong breaking stuff like Luzardo.

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals 6:45 PM ET

Nolan McLean Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-152 per DraftKings)

Nolan McLean has emerged as one of the more reliable arms for the New York Mets this season, posting a 2.92 ERA, a 0.96 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts across 52.1 innings pitched. His strikeout ability has taken another step forward this year as well, with his K/9 increasing from 10.69 last season to an impressive 11.01.

McLean has consistently delivered in the strikeout department, surpassing 5.5 strikeouts in 8 of his 9 starts this season. Tonight’s matchup against the Washington Nationals sets up favorably, as Washington currently ranks 10th in MLB in strikeouts with 409 on the season.

McLean also faced the Nationals once last year, where he pitched 5 innings, allowed 4 hits, and recorded 6 strikeouts. Against a young Nationals lineup that can still struggle with swing-and-miss tendencies, this looks like another strong opportunity for McLean to continue his breakout campaign and pile up strikeouts.

James Wood Over 0.5 Runs (-112 per DraftKings)

James Wood continues to be one of the brightest spots for the Nationals this season, entering tonight batting .250 with an elite .395 OBP and a .911 OPS. He has already crossed home plate 41 times this year, by far the highest total on Washington’s roster.

Wood has remained productive recently as well, scoring at least one run in 3 of his last 5 games and in 5 of his last 10 overall. His ability to consistently get on base gives him multiple opportunities each night to generate runs.

He has only faced McLean once in their young careers, but the matchup was encouraging from a plate discipline standpoint, as Wood drew 2 walks in 3 plate appearances. If he continues to get on base at that type of rate tonight, there should be solid opportunities for him to come around and score — especially with his ability to create offense himself with extra-base power.
