Wednesday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Wednesday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Connelly Early Over 5.5 Strikeouts (+132) vs. Braves

The Braves are undoubtedly one of the most dangerous teams in baseball, meaning Early doesn’t have the greatest matchup in the world this evening. However, the southpaw struck out six batters against this lineup on May 15, and he has gone Over 5.5 strikeouts in two of his last three starts. Even in the one start in which he didn’t go Over, Early racked up five strikeouts. He’s simply doing a good job of missing bats right now, making +132 odds rather enticing heading into this game.
Gerrit Cole Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+100) vs. Royals
Yankees at Royals – 7:40 pm ET
This season, Kansas City has a 21.6% strikeout rate when going up against right-handed starters. That’s not a terrible number, but it’s not a good one either. Well, this isn’t just any right-handed starter, it’s Gerrit Cole (bay bay). And while the righty is making only his second MLB-level start of the year in this one, I saw enough in his stint in the minors to suggest he can rack up a measly five strikeouts tonight. Of course, that didn’t end up being the case in his start against the Rays on May 22, but Cole did pitch well in that game. Now, with some more confidence and time in his normal routine, he should get back to missing some bats.
Brandon Nimmo Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-115) vs. Astros
Astros at Rangers – 8:05 pm ET
Mike Burrows, a righty with a 5.85 ERA this season, will be on the mound for the Astros tonight, making this a decent-looking spot to back a lefty bat. Well, how about Nimmo? This season, Nimmo is batting .266 and averaging 1.8 combined hits, runs, and RBIs (HRR) when gong up against righty starters. The one issue? Nimmo hasn’t played well at home. He’s averaging only 1.0 HRR per game against righties at Globe Life Field, and that’ll need to change eventually. But this feels like a spot in which it could happen. Nimmo has been getting opportunities to produce, and I like him to do it here.
