High Point’s upset win over Wisconsin stole headlines on the first full of the tournament. The Panthers were 10.5-point underdogs in the game, and they trailed by eight points with 4:55 remaining in the second half. From there, Chase Johnston, an absolute marksman from 3-point range, got hot for High Point. He hit three key triples down the stretch, and his only 2-point field goal of the entire season ended up being the game-winning layup with 11 seconds left.

The Panthers have now earned an outright win over one of the best backcourts in America — John Blackwell and Nick Boyd. Can the team do it again? In Darius Acuff Jr. and Maleek Thomas, John Calipari has an absurdly talented guard duo. Acuff gets most of the attention as a potential top-five pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, but Thomas has had some big scoring outbursts this year. The two Razorbacks are absolute burners, and High Point is going to be in for a real challenge in trying to slow them down.

High Point’s offense was impressive in the win over Wisconsin, putting up 83 points in a game in which the team shot 15 for 40 from 3. However, it was noted on the broadcast — and directly from one of the Panthers players — that the team was more athletic than the Badgers. That simply won’t be the case against the Razorbacks. Arkansas is going to be bigger, faster, and more talented, and the team has a much better statistical profile. Heading into the tournament, the Razorbacks were actually a top-five team when looking at Bart Torvik’s Adjusted Offensive Efficiency (127.8), ranking 68 spots ahead of the Panthers. Arkansas was also a top-50 defensive team (101.7), while High Point was 139th (107.1). The Razorbacks also have better rebounding numbers, they turn the ball over less, and they shoot the 3 better.

This game just feels like it has the potential to turn into a blowout. Boyd was able to relentlessly attack the basket successfully for Wisconsin last game, and Blackwell got good shots whenever he wanted. You can turn that up to 100 with Acuff and Thomas, and Arkansas also has some bigs that will be able to do damage in the paint — which is something Greg Gard’s team couldn’t do with Nolan Winter not 100% healthy. The fact that High Point also likes to play at a fast tempo only makes it more likely that this game gets out of hand, as both teams will have their foot on the gas and it’s the Razorbacks that should be scoring a little easier.

This is, however, a game in which playing the total could be the best option. While Arkansas is a brutal matchup for High Point, there is a chance this turns into a track meet. The number opened insanely high, but the Over is still appealing. These are two run-and-gun teams that can really score, plus they don’t turn the ball over. That means more possessions for the two good offenses.

The Over is also 21-12 in High Point games this season, while it’s 20-15 in Arkansas games. I’ll also add that both of these teams will fully know what to expect playing in the Moda Center, which could mean hot starts for both groups. There won’t be a feeling-out process in the venue.

Estimated Score: Coming soon.
