Gulfstream Park Picks for Friday, March 20:

HOME OR AWAY, IT’S MADNESS BABY: Once you’ve spent a long weekend in Las Vegas for March Madness, you’ll want to spend another, and another, and at least one more. During the approximate period of 1990-2010, Mr. Ed and his band of seven brothers from other mothers lived the high life together in Las Vegas when rooms were comped, parking was free, meals, alcohol and show tickets were on the house, and air fares were cheap. Today, sitting on the couch eating popcorn, drinking Coke with a cat on my lap while watching the Madness on a big screen, just isn’t the same. With brackets in hand, Mr. Ed just jumped out of his seat and let out a holler when TCU beat OSU. A win feels the same whether at home or in LV. Enjoy the next few weeks. March Madness comes but once a year.

HORSING AROUND: Today’s 10-race card at Gulfstream Park offers several opportunities to make some money. So, during the breaks in the Madness, here are a few of Mr. Ed’s exclusive VSiN selections for Friday.

Race 1 (12:50 p.m. ET/9:50 a.m. PT) — $26.5K MAIDEN CLAIMING for 3YOs going a mile
Mr. Ed likes a pair in the first leg of the DD: #5 TYBEE ECHO (9-2 morning line) as jockey Miguel Vasquez returns for trainer Ron Spatz following dull, wide effort on grass, and #7 WITCHA WISH (5-2) returns to dirt with a huge rider upgrade to Irad Ortiz, Jr. for hot trainer Luis Ramirez. Both appear ready to improve.
GULFSTREAM PARK SELECTION: $5 Daily Double of 5,7/5,6. ($20)

Race 2 (1:20 p.m. ET/10:20 a.m. PT) — $40K CLAIMING for 4YOs & Up going a mile on the turf
My money’s on #5 BAKERS STREET (7-2 morning line) for solid trainer Antonio Sano with jockey upgrade to Irad Ortiz, Jr., and #6 MISTER ABARRIO (9-5) for Saffie Joseph, Jr. with rider Micah Husbands returning to saddle. I like our chances.

Race 3 (1:51 p.m. ET/10:51 a.m. PT) — $24.5K CLAIMING for 4YOs & Up going 6½ furlongs
Mr. Ed’s betting on #5 FRIOLENTO (2-1 morning line). With blinkers back on, gelding seeks a repeat Win for trainer Nick Palmer and new rider Eddie Gonzalez.
GULFSTREAM PARK SELECTION: $20 to Win. ($20)

Race 4 (2:25 p.m. ET/11:25 a.m. PT) — $54K ALLOWANCE OPTIONAL CLAIMING for FL-bred fillies and mares, 4YOs & Up going 7½ furlongs on the grass
I like a trio: #5 NINA’S LAST GIFT (2-1 morning line) for low-profile trainer Max Ubide and returning rider Miguel Vasquez; #6 VICTORIOUSLY (5-2) with Johnny V., and #7 SAPPHIRE GIRL (7-2) with Tyler Gaffalione picking up mount. Strictly a rider’s race.
GULFSTREAM PARK SELECTION: $5 Exacta Box of 5,6,7. ($30)

Race 6 (3:31 p.m. ET/12:31 p.m. PT) — $54K ALLOWANCE for FL-bred, 3YO fillies going 6 furlongs
My play is #3 LOVE LIKE LUCY (9-5 morning line). Expensive gal, trained by Saffie Joseph, Jr., gets huge rider upgrade to Tyler Gaffalione. Cutback, addition of Lasix enough to put her back in the Winner’s Circle. I love her.
GULFSTREAM PARK SELECTION: $10 to Win. ($10)

Race 7 (4:07 p.m. ET/1:07 p.m. PT) — $35K STARTER OPTIONAL CLAIMING for 3YO fillies going 1 1/16-mile on the Tapeda surface
Mr. Ed likes three: #4 SLEWTY PRINCESS (4-1 morning line), deep closer trained by Ron Coy with Tyler Gaffalione returning to saddle; #6 NOCHE DE DAMAS (7-2) with rider upgrade to Irad Ortiz, Jr., and #8 STELLA BIONDA (3-1) with Luis Saez.
GULFSTREAM PARK SELECTION: $5 Exacta Box of 4,6,8. ($30)

Races 8-10 (4:37 p.m. ET/1:37 p.m. PT) — $1 Pick 3
R8: 3,5,6,8
R9: 4,5,7
R10: 2,5 ($24)

TOTAL WAGERS: $134

ON TO TURFWAY PARK: Mr. Ed returns here Saturday with his best bets, including a late Pick 4. The rich 13-race card is highlighted by the $777K G3 JEFF RUBY STEAKS, featuring several Kentucky Derby hopefuls.
