Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Phillies pitcher Andrew Painter is making just his third career MLB start after posting a 5.65 ERA with 1.5 home runs per nine innings at the AAA level last season.
Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen struggled to a 4.83 ERA with 1.5 home runs and 3.1 walks per nine innings last season but has gotten off to a better start in 2026, allowing five earned runs across 15 innings in three starts. However, his 4.01 fielding independent points toward regression, though he is backed by a lineup that ranked fourth in scoring last season with 4.9 runs per game.
Pick: Diamondbacks Moneyline +125 and Over 8.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Diamondbacks +104 and Total 8.9

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Minnesota Twins
Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer is a diminished version of his former self at age 41, as he posted a 5.19 ERA with two home runs per nine innings allowed last season and has logged just eight innings in his first two starts this season.
Twins starting pitcher Taj Bradley has started 2026 strong, allowing just two runs across 16 2/3 innings in his three starts, but he had a 5.05 ERA with eight strikeouts and 3.5 walks per nine innings last season and is supported by a bullpen that entered the weekend 25th in ERA this season at 5.23 after ranking 26th last season at 4.60.
Pick: Blue Jays Moneyline -110 and Over 8 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Blue Jays -148 and Total 8.7

Athletics vs. New York Mets
Athletics starting pitcher Aaron Civale lacked consistency last season while spending time with three different teams and has allowed three runs across 10 innings in his first two starts this season. While his 5.45 fielding independent points toward regression, the Mets are without star slugger Juan Soto for the time being.
Mets starting pitcher Freddy Peralta has had a rough start with the team, posting a 4.80 ERA through three starts, but his 3.55 fielding independent and 11.4 strikeouts per nine innings are actually improved from his 2025 season with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Athletics entered Saturday averaging just 2.8 runs per game on the road.
Pick: Athletics vs. Mets Under 8 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Total 7.3
Miami Marlins vs. Detroit Tigers
Embed from Getty ImagesMarlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara appears back to Cy Young form, allowing just two earned runs and 10 hits across 24 1/3 innings in his first three starts of the season.
Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal’s strikeout numbers are down from past seasons, recording 8.2 strikeouts per nine innings through three starts after posting at least 10.7 in each of the previous three seasons. He faces a Marlins lineup that entered the weekend fifth in road scoring with 5.3 runs per game after finishing second in the National League in that category last season.
Pick: Marlins Moneyline +180 and Over 6 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Marlins +164 and Total 6.4

Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals
Both teams have struggled at the plate, combining for just six runs in the first three games of this series. The Royals are coming off averaging the fewest runs per game at home last season with 3.7.
The White Sox are expected to use Grant Taylor as an opener before likely turning to Jonathan Cannon as a bulk pitcher. Cannon had a 5.82 ERA overall last season, but in five bullpen appearances, his strikeouts per nine innings increased to 8.9 compared to 7.1 as a starter. Royals starting pitcher Noah Cameron has a 2.90 ERA since being called up in 2025 with 1.1 home runs and 2.7 walks per nine innings.
Pick: White Sox vs. Royals Under 9.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Total 8.9
Washington Nationals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
The Nationals entered the weekend third in scoring with six runs per game and now face Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff, who has struggled to begin the season, allowing seven runs and two home runs across 10 2/3 innings in his first two starts.
Nationals starting pitcher Zack Littell had a 3.81 ERA last season, but his 4.88 fielding independent and 1.7 home runs per nine innings allowed point toward regression, which is compounded by a bullpen that ranked last in ERA last season at 5.59.
Pick: Brewers Run Line -1.5 +125 and Over 7.5 Runs
Greg’s Handicap: Brewers -1.5 -118 and Total 8.2
