Mets 3rd baseman Mark Vientos has been absolutely prolific to start the season, as he has 10 hits on 21 at-bats (.476 avg), and an OPS of 1.236. Vientos only has 15 total bases on the year, but he has had multiple-hit games in the last 3, and playing back home at Citi Field, that is advantageous to right-handed hitters. He will be going up against Zac Gallen this evening, a pitcher he is .222 against throughout their careers. Vientos has managed to get a home run in one of those at-bats as well, so we’ll see if he’s got some extra bases in the bat tonight.
Cincinnati Reds vs. Miami Marlins 6:40 PM ET
Otto Lopez Over 0.5 Hits (-215 per DraftKings)
Otto Lopez is another player who is off to a flaming-hot start to begin the year. Lopez is currently averaging .351 for the season, with a .929 OPS. The success Lopez has had up to this point has been very integral to the team’s recent success. Against southpaw Andrew Abbott, who the Marlins will be facing tonight, he is batting .400 with a .900 OPS. The Marlins will want to get ahead of the Reds early, especially with Alcantara on the mound, so Lopez will look to get active early in this one.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Washington Nationals 6:45 PM ET
James Wood Under 0.5 RBI’s (-358 per DraftKings)
As a young power hitter, James Wood relies on heavy foot traffic, which is hard to come by, especially going up against someone like Matthew Liberatore. Wood is still in the learning stages of hitting in the MLB, which has him looking to incorporate contact, instead of the power-heavy approach. For now, given his inexperience against a quality arm like Liberatore, and him not having the best average to start the season, I think the under on his RBIs is a safe bet this evening.
Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Angels 9:38 PM ET
Reynaldo Lopez Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-160 per DraftKings)
Reynaldo Lopez is an efficient right-hander who does well minimizing damage and limiting hits. He also has a pretty favorable matchup this evening against the Angels, who have been middling at best against solid pitching. Lopez comes into this one with a 5.73 Hits/9 on the season, which should continue to at least hold around that number, given the lineup he’s facing this evening. With it also being a night game, that should be more favorable for Lopez.
Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants 9:45 PM ET
Trea Turner Under 1.5 Total Bases (-136 per DraftKings)
Though off to a pretty solid start this season, I have my doubts about Trea Turner in this matchup against Robbie Ray. Turner does have a regular-season batting average of .279, but against lefties this season he is only .071, and Ray is one of the toughest southpaws to face in the MLB. Against Ray himself, Turner is batting .217, coming with 5 hits in 23 at-bats, with just 1 extra-base hit. This certainly presents quite the challenging opportunity for Turner, but he’ll have to prove to be much better against left-handed pitching.
