Introduction

Drafted 12th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon, quarterback Bo Nix will be entering his second season with the Denver Broncos. Coming off a year where Denver made the playoffs for the first time since their 2015 Super Bowl win, Broncos fans have confidence not only in their team but in their quarterback, Bo Nix, who is leading the charge. Last season, Nix threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. He also added 430 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Though his rookie season may have been overshadowed by Jayden Daniels, Nix put together a solid campaign and has a strong foundation around him to build on moving forward.

2025 Outlook

Nix will have much of the same supporting cast around him this season, with key additions including Evan Engram at tight end and running backs J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey. On DraftKings, Bo Nix is currently listed with an over/under of 3,425.5 passing yards (over -110; under -110) and 24.5 passing touchdowns (over +100; under -120). Both marks appear attainable, but it’s worth noting that defensive coordinators have now had a full offseason to study Nix’s rookie tape and adjust to his tendencies.

Just last season, we saw C.J. Stroud throw for nearly 400 fewer yards than in his rookie campaign, though that was in part due to injuries to the Texans’ receiving corps. Nix will need to evolve, and fortunately for him, Sean Payton is one of the better quarterback developers in the league.

If you’re particularly optimistic about Nix’s chances in 2025, he is currently listed at +3500 to win MVP (implied odds of 2.78%), behind 15 other players. Since MVP voters typically favor quarterbacks on top-tier teams, Nix’s chances hinge on Denver taking a major step forward. While optimism around the Broncos is growing, no team has overtaken the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West during Patrick Mahomes’ tenure. DraftKings currently projects the Chiefs to win two more games than the Broncos this season.

Conclusion

As Bo Nix enters his second NFL season, with the Broncos returning most of their playoff roster and coaching staff, the outlook in Denver is promising. While the AFC remains a gauntlet, the Broncos catch a break by not having to face the Ravens or Bills. If Nix can navigate the early part of the schedule and adjust to the defensive wrinkles thrown his way, don’t be surprised if he emerges as one of the league’s rising stars.
