We have reached the final major of the 2025 tennis season, as the US Open is underway from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. I’m going to be providing you with daily tennis best bets throughout the course of this event, so make sure you’re coming back to VSiN if you’re looking to bet on the action in Flushing Meadows, New York. We’ll continue with some Day 8 picks and predictions for Sunday, August 31st.
I also post more tennis plays on the Pro Picks page. I occasionally add picks throughout the day, as I like to see how odds are moving. So, keep checking that page every couple of hours if you want more of my action. That’s also where you’ll find picks from Gill Alexander, who does great work handicapping tennis on A Numbers Game. You can watch Gill analyze tennis Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to noon ET. That said, if you like tennis, you might want to consider becoming a VSiN Pro.

I have won backing Mannarino three rounds in a row. I had the Frenchman to beat Tallon Griekspoor and Jordan Thompson, and I essentially had him to win a set against Ben Shelton (in the form of an Over on 3.5 sets). The 37-year-old has had some bad moments in recent years, but he’s under-appreciated when he’s playing well. However, I do think the run ends here for the savvy southpaw.
Mannarino looked like he was beginning to fade late in his match against Shelton last round, but the American injured his shoulder and was forced to retire. Had that not happened, it’s very likely Mannarino would have been heading home. In fact, Mannarino said that himself. Now, Mannarino will be going up against another player with a massive serve and some big-time punch from the baseline.
Lehecka isn’t as good of an athlete as Shelton, so Mannarino won’t have to worry much about the Czech extending rallies and coming up with magic along the baseline. But Lehecka can be better about serving to spots, essentially taking the racquet out of Mannarino’s hands. And I just think that if Lehecka is breezing through his service games, he’ll eventually get Mannarino to crack. I also believe that the weight of Lehecka’s shots will cause Mannarino to wear down a bit physically.
Unfortunately, the moneyline price with Lehecka is unplayable. But the set spread is a decent option. Lehecka should win this one in four or fewer sets, even if those sets could be long and competitive.
Bet: Lehecka -1.5 Sets (-126)
Taylor Townsend vs. Barbora Krejcikova
Townsend is having herself a moment. After coming out on top of a fiery match against Jelena Ostapenko in the second round, Townsend backed it up with a 7-5, 6-2 upset win over Mirra Andreeva on Friday. The lefty has always had an insane amount of skill, but it has mostly translated to success in doubles. Well, this week, she has everything going.
The problem is that Townsend has never been beyond this stage at a major, and she is a player that has some flaws. And Krejcikova, a doubles monster that also has two singles majors to her name, is the type of player that can expose them.
While Townsend has a tricky serve and some good hands around the net, Krejcikova should know that she can win this match by moving the American around the court. Townsend simply isn’t great when it comes to court coverage. Also, while Townsend has been dialed in as a server this week, she was only holding at 65.6% coming into the US Open. And she can be guilty of double-faulting at the wrong times. That said, I can see a strong returner like Krejcikova really putting her under a lot of pressure.
As long as Krejcikova doesn’t completely miss the mark as a server herself — like she did against Emma Navarro — it’s hard to imagine Townsend’s run continuing.
Bet: Krejcikova ML (-134 – 1.5 units)
2025 Record: 1037-1027-1 (+35.35 units)
