WNBA Picks

Don’t look now, but we’ve quietly cashed a few bets in a row this week. To quote Lou Brown from Major League, it’s called a winning streak; it has happened before. We’ve got three more games in the WNBA tonight, as the Indiana Fever will host the Phoenix Mercury, Atlanta plays a back-to-back at Dallas after losing a heartbreaker to the Valkyries last night, and the Liberty will visit Minnesota without Breanna Stewart in the lineup again.

Here are the T Shoe Index projections for tonight:

Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury (-3.5), O/U 166

I had intentions of giving out the Over in this game when the opener was 161.5; however, by the time it was time to put this article together, the total had risen 4.5 points to 166, and the Mercury have seen the spread go from -2 to -3.5 in their favor. TSI projects Phoenix -2 with a total of 165.5, so there’s not really much value to be had here as the Fever will play yet again without star guard Caitlin Clark. I’m going to pass.
WNBA Pick: Pass

Dallas Wings vs. Atlanta Dream (-4), O/U 165.5

As I mentioned, Atlanta played last night and lost by 2 to the Valkyries (who were desperate for a win). Now, the Dream must turn right around and face Paige Bueckers and the Wings, who are coming off of a double-digit win over the Liberty. Dallas has been (double checks notes)16 points worse at home this season, per TSI ratings. This oddity gives us one of the craziest TSI projections of the season: Atlanta -15.5 with a total of 169. It seems crazy, but who am I to question the formula at this point?
WNBA Pick: Atlanta Dream -4 (Play to -6)

Minnesota Lynx (-7.5) vs. New York Liberty, O/U 166.5

New York has to find some kind of rhythm without star Breanna Stewart in the lineup, who is out with a leg injury sustained last week. The Liberty have lost two in a row to bad teams (Dallas and LA), and now face the toughest team in the league outside of the Barclays Center. New York is just 2-8 ATS on the road in their last 10 and 0-3 ATS as an underdog this season. TSI projects Minnesota -4 with a total of 170. Let’s play the Over here, as the last two games without Stewart have combined for 174 and 200 points, respectively.
WNBA Pick: Over 166.5 (Play to 167.5)
