6:00 PM Eastern
Boston College Eagles vs. Florida State Seminoles
Florida State ranks 10th in the nation in percentage of field goal attempts from three-point range at 51.4%, but is making just 31.3% of those threes at home, which ranks 302nd nationally. Boston College has been a solid defensive team and a poor offensive one, ranking 58th in points per possession allowed and 44th in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 31%. Offensively, the Eagles are 338th in points per possession and play at a slow pace, ranking 262nd in total possessions per game. They will look to take care of the ball against a Florida State team that wants to speed them up, as the Seminoles rank 24th in total possessions per game and 42nd in turnovers per possession generated on defense, while Boston College is 89th in turnovers per possession on offense.
Picks: Boston College +11.5 and Under 148.5 (Greg’s Handicap Boston College +8 and Total 142)
Gardner Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs vs. Charleston Southern Buccaneers
Gardner Webb has struggled in nearly every facet this season, ranking 361st in points per possession on offense away from home and 364th in points per possession allowed on defense. Charleston Southern plays at a rapid pace, ranking 11th in total possessions per game, and does not allow easy looks inside, ranking 27th in opponent two-point shooting percentage. The Buccaneers are also shooting 37.9% from three-point range at home, while Gardner Webb ranks 364th out of 365 Division I teams in rebound percentage.
Picks: Charleston Southern -16.5 and Under 159.5 (Greg’s Handicap Charleston Southern -23 and Total 155)
6:30 PM Eastern
Central Michigan Chippewas vs. Eastern Michigan Eagles
Eastern Michigan has improved significantly on defense compared to past seasons, ranking 187th in points per possession allowed overall and 77th in home games. Central Michigan ranks 357th in points per possession allowed away from home. Offensively, Central Michigan’s three-point shooting drops from 37.6% at home to 31.5% away from home, and Eastern Michigan ranks 51st in opponent two-point shooting percentage at home.
Pick: Eastern Michigan -4.5 (Greg’s Handicap Eastern Michigan -8.5)
7:00 PM Eastern
South Carolina Gamecocks vs. Florida Gators
Florida has a clear edge on the glass, leading the nation in overall rebound percentage, while South Carolina ranks 277th. However, South Carolina does a strong job of maximizing possessions by taking care of the ball, ranking 31st in turnovers per possession on offense compared to Florida at 125th. Florida continues to struggle from three-point range at home, shooting just 28.6%, which ranks 351st nationally.
Pick: South Carolina +23.5 (Greg’s Handicap South Carolina +19.5)
Kent State Golden Flashes vs. Bowling Green Falcons
Bowling Green will look to exploit Kent State’s ball security issues. Kent State ranks 13th in total possessions per game and may be playing too fast for its own good, ranking 311th in turnovers per possession. The Golden Flashes’ three-point shooting drops dramatically from 39.3% at home (31st nationally) to 29.2% away from home (325th). Bowling Green ranks 47th in turnovers generated per possession on defense and 48th in points per possession allowed overall, while Kent State ranks 215th in points per possession allowed.
Picks: Bowling Green -2.5 and Over 150.5 (Greg’s Handicap Bowling Green -5.5 and Total 153.5)
Akron Zips vs. Western Michigan Broncos
Akron has been one of the most efficient offenses in the country, ranking sixth in points per possession while playing at a fast pace, ranking 61st in total possessions per game. They face a Western Michigan defense that ranks 322nd in points per possession allowed. Western Michigan is more middle-of-the-pack offensively, ranking 174th in possessions per game and 185th in points per possession.
Pick: Akron vs. Western Michigan Over 160.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 165.5)
8:00 PM Eastern
Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Miami Hurricanes
Embed from Getty ImagesVirginia Tech has taken care of the ball well, ranking 55th in fewest turnovers per possession, and should find open looks from outside against a Miami defense that ranks 240th in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 35.1%. Miami ranks 22nd nationally in points per possession at home and should generate plenty of scoring chances inside, rebounding 34.2% of its missed shots as offensive rebounds, which ranks 34th nationally. Virginia Tech ranks 245th in defensive rebound percentage.
Pick: Virginia Tech vs. Miami Over 150.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 154.5)
Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
Wisconsin relies heavily on the three-point shot, taking 51.1% of its field goal attempts from beyond the arc, the ninth-highest percentage nationally. Ohio State has been strong at defending the perimeter, ranking 46th in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 31%. The Buckeyes’ offense may take a hit with second-leading scorer John Mobley (15.1 points per game, 40% from three-point range) out for this game.
Pick: Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Under 159.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 155.5)
8:30 PM Eastern
Fresno State Bulldogs vs. Wyoming Cowboys
Wyoming has had one of the biggest tempo shifts in the country since conference play began, now ranking 242nd in total possessions per game after being 85th on December 25. This game is unlikely to feature much three-point shooting, as Fresno State ranks 14th in opponent three-point shooting percentage at 29.6%. Offensively, Fresno State ranks 272nd in three-point shooting percentage at 32%, 264th in points per possession, and 301st in turnovers per possession. Wyoming limits second chances at home, allowing opponents to grab just 20.9% of their missed shots as offensive rebounds, ranking 13th nationally.
Pick: Fresno State vs. Wyoming Under 148.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 142)
9:00 PM Eastern
Air Force Falcons vs. New Mexico Lobos
Air Force has struggled mightily, ranking 363rd in points per possession on offense and 346th in points per possession allowed on defense. However, the Falcons have limited possessions, ranking 338th in possessions per game away from home. They face a New Mexico team that ranks 144th in rebound percentage and 206th in opponent two-point shooting percentage, allowing clean looks inside the arc.
Pick: Air Force +28.5 (Greg’s Handicap Air Force +26.5)
10:30 PM Eastern
Minnesota Golden Gophers vs. Oregon Ducks
Minnesota has dramatic home and road splits on defense, ranking 32nd in points per possession allowed at home compared to 342nd away from home. Oregon ranks 183rd in points per possession on offense, but leading scorer and rebounder Nate Bittle has returned after missing seven games and has scored at least 15 points in each of his three games back. Oregon’s defense ranks 261st in points per possession allowed.
Pick: Minnesota vs. Oregon Over 134.5 (Greg’s Handicapped Total 138.5)
