BEST BET: Curlin’s Lil Gal (6th race)

1. Curlin’s Lil Gal
2. Blessed Angel
3. Lucky Burglar
CURLIN’S LIL GAL is feeling great, so up the class ladder she goes. That was not a clean trip two back. This mare gets good race flow if all stay in. Vergara gets a leg up and is 50% for this improving barn. A recent work rounds out the appeal for our best bet of the day. BLESSED ANGEL has speed and comes in fresh, so perhaps she is quickest. She did win when last seen returning off a break, and it came here at 2-1. Main pace foe resides next door. LUCKY BURGLAR just ran better, and around here, that means more. She draws outside and now puts four races together. She certainly out ran her odds in her most recent. Perhaps that carries over some today.

Here are Scott’s thoughts on the other seven races on Monday’s Turf Paradise card.
First Race
1. Cyber Courage
2. Jj the Boss
3. Bf Dulce Sin Rage
Quarter horses.
Second Race
1. The Dulce Tacha
2. Rue
3. Not Any Dynasty
Quarter horses.
Third Race
1. Riverside
2. Cornishman
3. Spenard
RIVERSIDE has speed and the rail. He likes it here well enough and won’t go favored. Confident placement in start number three for new barn isn’t lost on us. CORNISHMAN escapes stakes foes and is the one to beat in here. It is no picnic shipping in from New Mexico, and this gelding will be over bet. It is nice to see that this horse likes it here though. SPENARD is one of two in here for team McFarlane. That was a tasty snack last out as the big chalk. Can this colt put top tries together?
Fourth Race
1. Benedicici
2. Ez Cowboy
3. Ryon’s Chance
BENEDICICI is by a 1 for 7 debut sire. His dam went 12-3-1-0 and earned 20K. All 4 sibs won, including a multiple winner of 63K. That bullet work on the 21st might tip hand. EZ COWBOY is banging on the door, but the dead bolt holds. Perhaps a return to sprinting or first time in an elongated sprint can prove the tipping point. RYON’S CHANCE was denied any kind of decent trip in both starts to date. Five of seven sibs beat winners. The price will entice. This rail draw is a bit of a bummer though.

Fifth Race
1. Whiskeythenwine
2. Never Catch Me
3. Son of Cupid
WHISKEYTHENWINE ran evenly off the layoff, but you can see that, right? Lack of speed is the main knock. This gelding is classy enough, and this barn are 12% second off this type of layoff. NEVER CATCH ME is by a 10% debut sire. His dam was unraced. Both sibs won, including a multiple winner of 61K. Works are steady and plentiful. SON OF CUPID was stuck on the rail in his most recent but still showed some tactical speed. He cuts back a half furlong and keeps regular rider. Second time at this level along with some upside just can’t hurt.
Seventh Race
1. Golden Goose
2. Nurse Lucy
3. Boujee Britches
GOLDEN GOOSE ran well in both local turf tries. That makes sense with her 326 turf Tommy. Race flow is fast, and this filly wants to pass runners. She draws fine and keeps regular rider. NURSE LUCY just beat over half the field home, and that was her first start on the grass and her first going two turns. Most horses improve the second time they do anything. That 313 turf Tomlinson is solid for around here. BOUJEE BRITCHES is another that tried a turf route for the first time last out. She did beat over half the field home. Lopes returns and was up only two back. WILD WEST COAST is by a 0-for-21 debut sire and a 1-for-11 debut turf sire. Her dam went 13-2-2-0 and earned 76K (3-0-0-0 on the grass). Two of seven sibs won but only once each. One of two won on the green.
Eighth Race
1. Capital Heat
2. She’s So Shiny
3. Ready to Gig
CAPITAL HEAT just ran a nice 2nd at 22-1. Connections wisely want this tricky distance right back. This mare has now hit the exacta in two of three starts going this far. She puts three races together for the first time in a while. SHE’S SO SHINY has hit the board, going 6 1/2 panels in five of six starts. This rail draw won’t matter for a horse making its 43rd start. READY TO GIG is the value. She draws the attack post and adds two full furlongs. She has run well going this distance before.
