The MLS is treating us to a massive Wednesday slate, and I’ve circled this matchup to place a wager on. In my last picks article, I bet against Atlanta United, taking Nashville, who cruised to a 2-0 victory. That was a fade of a struggling club whose issues should persist on this short turnaround.

Atlanta has struggled to score. They rank 26th in the league in expected goals (xG) with 10.17 and 29th in goals scored, with just six through eight matches. One of their main problems—which I highlighted in my last write-up—is shot efficiency. Atlanta United currently ranks 28th in shots on target this season and 27th in accurate shooting percentage (31.5%). They aren’t generating many chances to score, and the ones they create tend to be poor.

On the other hand, the New England Revolution have been surging. Winners of three straight matches by a combined score of 6-1, they are beaming with confidence heading into this contest. That said, here’s some bad news for the club: they haven’t won a road match this young season. An 0-3-0 start away from home has left them pointless on the road. They have produced 10.26 xG this season—just barely above Atlanta—but the quality of their chances is far more valuable. While they rank the same as Atlanta in shots on target (28th), they sit ninth in accurate shooting percentage (43.3%) in the MLS.

I think the form heading into this match suggests the Revolution are worth a play. If you’re worried about the draw, the double-chance option is priced at -130 right now. My three-way moneyline read comes into play here as well. Atlanta being at home and still plus money should raise some red flags about this weak home favorite.

Pick: New England Revolution ML (+250)
