Game 6: New York Knicks at Atlanta Hawks – 7:00 pm ET

I have the Knicks -1.5 Games in this series, plus I have a parlay with New York and Denver to advance to the second round. With that in mind, I already have a lot invested in the Knicks to win this game. However, if I was looking to play this one on its own, I’d be playing New York moneyline to win 1.5 units — and I’d be willing to play it up to -140.

It just seems pretty clear that the Knicks know what needs to be done in this series. Over the last two games, we haven’t seen quite as much Jalen Brunson hero-ball. New York is moving the ball a little better, getting Karl-Anthony Towns his touches, and playing better team defense. We have also seen CJ McCollum come crashing down after a scorching hot start to the series. The Knicks just have a much more talented team, a bigger team, and a more experienced team. That’s starting to manifest itself, and the only thing that can really prevent a New York Game 6 win is a Quin Snyder coaching masterclass — which can’t be ruled out considering how much better he has looked than Mike Brown.

I am, however, putting a little something on this game, throwing in a play on Brunson to finish with at least three triples. While we haven’t seen as much of Brunson pounding the rock over the last few games, he did have 39 points last game. Brunson is just getting higher quality looks now that other guys are doing their parts, and the star guard comes into this game having made at least three triples in four of the five games in this series. I just don’t see Brunson being shy about getting his shots up here, and he could be even more aggressive if he senses his teammates being a little tight early on. So, at +130 odds, I’m taking a shot here.

Strong Lean: Knicks ML (-128 – 1.5 units)
Bet: Jalen Brunson Over 2.5 Made Threes (+130 – 0.5 units)

Game 6: Boston Celtics at Philadelphia 76ers – 8:00 pm ET

I think the 76ers found something in Game 5, relying on Joel Embiid to dominate a Celtics team that is weak at the center spot. Philadelphia now heads into Game 6 with some confidence, and the team also has a clear idea of what to do. Well, I do think Embiid will make his mark on this game, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if it’s his presence that does more of the damage here. Boston will likely make some adjustments to try and keep Embiid from putting up 33 points again, but any extra attention that goes his way should mean good things for Tyrese Maxey. And while Embiid is great, this is Maxey’s show now.

Maxey has had at least 40 combined points, rebounds, and assists in three of the five games in this series, and he even reached 40 in Game 5. That said, even with Embiid being the focal point of the Philadelphia offense, Maxey was able to fill up the stat sheet.

I’m also going to sprinkle Quentin Grimes to hit at least two triples in this game. He knocked down four of them in a Game 5 win in Boston, and he has really started to settle into this series. So, with this game being played at home, why not take a flier on Grimes to keep it up at +196 odds. The Celtics have struggled to defend above-the-break threes all year. Grimes can make them pay there.

Bet: Tyrese Maxey Over 35.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-115)
Bet: Quentin Grimes Over 1.5 Made Threes (+196 – 0.5 units)

Additional Plays

PARLAY: Knicks Alt +7.5 vs. Hawks G6 & 76ers Alt +10.5 vs. Celtics G6 (-118 – 1.5 units): As previously mentioned, I’m not looking to add to my Knicks position as a close loss would sting a little too much. However, I am willing to bank on the Knicks not getting beaten handedly, and doing so gets me a bit of a better number with the 76ers. I like Philadelphia to keep things tight against Boston in Game 6, but I like the idea of getting a few extra points to account for the road team’s ability to get hot in a hurry. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if this is a one-score game late and the Celtics knock down a couple of jumpers to make it look a little more lopsided.
