I am really looking forward to this all-European clash in Texas this weekend. With the retractable roof and climate-controlled nature of the Houston Stadium, there is nothing to stop this from being an end-to-end thriller. Therefore, I was surprised to see Over 2.5 Goals priced up at -110, which for me represents great value.

The Netherlands threw away two precious points by conceding late in their tournament opener, a 2-2 tie with Japan, while Sweden announced their World Cup arrival with a 5-1 demolition of Tunisia. With plenty at stake for both teams and a huge amount of attacking talent on display, I can’t see a cautious, defense-first approach—just plenty of goals.

The numbers support the play massively with this line cashing in seven of the last 10 Netherlands matches. Since Graham Potter became Sweden’s head coach, six of his seven games in charge have seen at least three goals, with 28 scored in total at an average of exactly four.

Neither side convince defensively, with Sweden conceding in all those games under the former West Ham, Chelsea and Brighton boss, making it 12 in total. It’s just one clean sheet in seven for the Dutch, and that came against a really poor Lithuania side.

The Netherlands instead rely on their own firepower to get them through, scoring 27 goals in World Cup qualifying and always creating plenty through an aggressive attacking system. Here they come up against what looks like a lethal front two of Arsenal’s Viktor Gyökeres and Liverpool’s Alexander Isak, who both scored in the opener, goals assisted by the other.

Expect the Netherlands to control possession and push numbers forward, while Sweden looks to exploit those spaces on the break. That game script always leads to chances at both ends. In this matchup, we have the players who are more than capable of taking them.
