TRACKING MR. ED: Meet leading jockey Irad Ortiz ruled the roost at the Spa on Friday as he booted home four winners. Flavien Prat and Ricardo Santana Jr. each had a pair. Looking at the trainer colony, leader Chad Brown had a pair of winners, as did Todd Pletcher and Tom Morley. When all was said and run, a $1 single-ticket Pick 6 returned slightly less than $500K. Saturday’s 12-race card, highlighted by the $500K G2 Flower Bowl Stakes, goes to post at 12:05 p.m. ET/9:05 a.m. PT. The weather forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s.

Let’s play two: Mr. Ed likes a pair in the first leg of DD: #2 NEIGH BABY (3-1 morning line) for excellent upstate trainer Jeremiah Englehart, who hires Jaime Rodriguez to ride, and #9 JOLTED (7-2) for Whit Beckman with hot Kendrick Carmouche riding.
SARATOGA SELECTION: $5 Daily Double of 2,9&1,4. ($20)

Race 2 (12:37 p.m. ET/9:37 a.m. PT) — $90K MAIDEN SPECIAL WEIGHT for 2YOs going 1 1/16-mile on the turf
To complete DD, I like #1 COACH RYAN (3-1 morning line) for top trainer Chad Brown with Dylan Davis up, and #4 YOU’RE LOOKIN GOOD (9-2) for up-and-coming young trainer Amelia Green.

Race 4 (1:41 p.m. ET/10:41 a.m. PT) — $115K OPTIONAL CLAIMING for 3YOs & up going 5½ furlongs on the turf
Mr. Ed’s pick is #5 CREDITWORTHY (5-2 morning line). He’ll make amends for last with a new rider (Jose Lezcano) while shortening up on grass for Chad Brown. Gelding is worthy of my support.

Mr. Ed likes a trio: #1 STRADALE (5-2 morning line) for tough team of Steve Asmussen and Ricardo Santana, Jr,; #3 ACCOST (3-1) for Chad Brown and Dylan Davis, and #7 SOUPER CALIBER (8-1) for Mark Casse, who flies jockey Emisael Jaramillio up from his Florida base to ride. My money is on favorite #3 DELIGHTFUL CLAIRE (6-5 morning line), who posted a sizzling 95 speed figure in career second start. Trainer Phil Bauer gives new rider Luan Machado the chance to ride coed home to a delightful score.

Mr. Ed is at his very best in picking Irish import #7 BE YOUR BEST (5-2 morning line) to win major stakes. Trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr. welcomes Florida-based jockey Edgard Zayas to ride at the Spa. BEST BET OF THE DAY (naturally).
