Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Thursday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Thursday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day, but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. I go lighter on baseball than I do other sports. My MLB units are 50% of what my normal units are.
Matt Olson Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-118) vs. Cubs
Cubs at Braves – 7:15 pm ET
As long as Olson isn’t being priced outrageously, it’s hard to turn him down to go Over 1.5 hits, runs, and RBIs (HRR). That’s especially true when the star is going up against right-handed starters. Well, it’ll be righty Ben Brown on the mound for the Cubs tonight. So, this is the type of matchup that Olson wants. Olson comes into this game having gone Over 1.5 HRR in 17 of the last 19 games he has played against right-handed starters. In that span, he’s averaging 3.3 HRR per game. Olson has also gone Over 1.5 HRR in each of the last 11 home games in which he has seen a righty starter, averaging 3.4 HRR per game in those games. At some point, the 32-year-old will cool down. But until then, we need to ride this gravy train.
Bobby Witt Jr. Over 2.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+120) vs. White Sox
Embed from Getty ImagesRoyals at White Sox – 7:40 pm ET
I haven’t had too much success playing the Over on 2.5 HRR this year, but it’s hard not to get involved with Witt tonight. Witt has had at least three HRR in seven of the last nine games, averaging 3.4 HRR per game in that span. On the year, Witt is batting .324 with a triple, four doubles, a homer, and four RBIs when facing left-handed pitching, and this is after a 2025 season in which he hit .328 and crushed southpaws. Witt is just extremely dangerous against lefties, and Anthony Kay isn’t exactly an intimidating one.
Kyle Tucker Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (+100) vs. Giants
Giants at Dodgers – 10:10 pm ET
Tucker didn’t get off to too hot of a start for this Los Angeles team, but he has been pretty reliable at the plate recently. Over the last 19 games, Tucker has gone Over 1.5 HRR on 13 occasions. The lefty slugger is also averaging 2.1 HRR per game in that span, and it almost feels like there’s more Tucker can do. He hasn’t hit right-handed starting very well to start the year, but that’s bound to change very soon. This is a guy that has always crushed righties. Of course, Tucker has struggled against Landen Roupp, going 0 for 6 with three strikeouts against the righty. However, that’s still too small of a sample size to completely turn me off. This is a good price for a good hitter.
Additional Best Bets
Michael McGreevy Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-150 – 1.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 5+ (+133 – 0.5 units) & Alt Strikeouts 6+ (+285 – 0.25 units)
