Player props have become one of baseball’s most entertaining ways to bet, offering value well beyond the moneyline, run line, or game total. Each day, this column highlights the best opportunities on the board — from strikeouts and hits to total bases and pitcher outs recorded — using matchup data, recent form, and betting trends to identify edges. Keep reading for the top MLB player prop picks for April 27. Also, make sure you check out our live VSiN programming for more. Monday Player Prop Best Bets
Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Monday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. That’s also where you’ll find any late adds to my card.
Dustin May Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-116) vs. Pirates
Cardinals at Pirates – 6:40 pm ET
May is coming off his first five-strikeout performance of the season, doing so in a road start against the Marlins. Well, I like the talented righty to rack up another five strikeouts tonight. There’s a lot to like about what the Pirates are building, and this is a team that is off to an impressive 16-12 start. However, Pittsburgh does have the fifth-highest strikeout rate (24.5%) in baseball, making this a gettable matchup when it comes to making guys swing and miss. May also happened to strike out five in 5.1 innings of work against the Pirates last year, and he looks to be a more confident pitcher in 2026 than he was in 2025.
Dylan Cease Over 7.5 Strikeouts (-103) vs. Red Sox
Red Sox at Blue Jays – 7:07 pm ET
I don’t love the idea of going Over on a high strikeout total like this one, but it feels warranted with the way Cease is pitching. The righty is averaging 8.8 strikeouts per game this season, and he has two double-digit strikeout performances in only five outings. Cease has also gone Over a total of 7.5 in both of his starts in Toronto, so he looks to be pretty comfortable in the Rogers Centre. This also happens to be a pretty strong matchup for the righty. Boston has a strikeout rate of 22.5% against righties, and this is a team that has performed so poorly that the entire coaching staff was let go. That said, I like Cease to cruise in yet another start. He’s looking like every bit the ace the Blue Jays thought they were signing.
Dansby Swanson Over 0.5 Total Bases (-115) vs. Padres
Embed from Getty ImagesCubs at Padres – 9:40 pm ET
This total almost feels like a trap, but I’m taking the bait. Swanson has undoubtedly been slumping this season, batting .191 through 28 games. However, the 32-year-old did have back-to-back multi-hit games on Thursday and Friday last week. That said, it does seem like he’s seeing the ball a little better. Also, Swanson did average a hit per game when going against righties on the road last season. So, while Randy Vasquez has been excellent this season, I am finding it hard not to play Swanson to finish with a single total base.
