Thursday Player Prop Best Bets

Below you’ll find my official plays on the player prop market for Thursday. These are the ones that make the VSiN Pro Picks page and count towards my season-long record. I’ll write three up per day but I’ll add additional ones in an “Additional Best Bets” section. That’s also where you’ll find any late adds to my card.

Davis Martin Over 16.5 Outs Recorded (+120) vs. Diamondbacks

White Sox at Diamondbacks – 3:40 pm ET

Pitching in Arizona can be a little tricky, but Martin has recorded at least 18 outs in three consecutive starts. He has also recorded 21 outs in back-to-back outings. With that in mind, I like the idea of playing the righty to record at least 17 outs at plus-money odds. Martin likely won’t run through this lineup with his swing-and-miss stuff, but he pitches well to contact. His grounder-heavy work could allow him to stay hot in a stadium that normally troubles power hitters.

Amed Rosario Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-105) vs. Red Sox

Yankees at Red Sox – 6:10 pm ET

Last year, when facing left-handed pitching, Rosario averaged 1.9 combined hits, runs, and RBIs. This year, that number is down at 1.6. However, that still suggests he should go Over a number like 1.5 HRR more often than not. And I do like the matchup for him tonight. Not only is Rosario going up against a lefty but he’s also going up against an inexperienced one. We haven’t seen much of Payton Tolle, so we don’t quite know what to expect. But if he shows up with any nerves, or just doesn’t have his best stuff, Rosario is one of the Yankees that can pounce.

Bubba Chandler Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120) vs. Rangers

Pirates at Rangers – 8:05 pm ET

Chandler hasn’t gone Over his strikeout prop since his first outing of the season. That was a six-strikeout performance against the Reds, and he has been at four or fewer strikeouts in three straight since. This is, however, as good of a matchup as he can possibly ask for. The Rangers surely have some dangerous hitters in the lineup, but they’re also one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to strikeout rate (25.2%). That said, I’m expecting some missed bats for Chandler.
