Washington Nationals vs. Pittsburgh Pirates 6:40 PM ET
Luis Garcia Under 1.5 Total Bases (-141 per DraftKings)
As we get further through April, and leading into May, we’re getting a larger and more reliable sample size of these players’ stats through the early part of the MLB season. Luis Garcia, in particular, has performed a little below his career averages at the plate so far this season. Tonight things won’t get much easier against Mitch Keller, who Garcia has a .250 batting average against in 16 at-bats with a .688 OPS. Keller has also been red hot to start the year, as he currently has a 1.00 ERA through 3 games and 18 innings. Garcia also hasn’t recorded a ton of total bases this season, with 21 total in 53 at-bats, and he has just 5 extra-base hits this year.
Chicago Cubs vs. Philadelphia Phillies 6:40 PM ET
Game Total Under 9.5 Runs (-108 per DraftKings)
This is a very tough game to bet tonight considering it is effectively a bullpen game for the Chicago Cubs. Both squads put up a considerable amount of runs in yesterday’s game; however, what we’ve seen from these teams so far is no 2 days are quite the same. In Cubs games, we’ve seen 3 of their last 5 result in under 9.5 runs, and 5 of their last 10. As for the Phillies, we’ve seen 4 of their last 5 games result in under 9.5 runs, as well as 8 of their last 10. Though there is some uncertainty with Chicago rolling out their bullpen on the mound, I think an under here makes sense.
Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves 7:15 PM ET
Ronald Acuna Jr. Under 1.5 Hits (-248 per DraftKings)
Embed from Getty ImagesLately we’ve seen Ronald Acuna pick things up, as his batting average has gradually increased over the last few games. That said, he hasn’t had a ton of multi-hit games this season, with just 5 in 17 games. Over his last 5 he has managed to have 3 multi-hit games, but in just 4 of his last 10 games. This evening he will also be facing Max Meyer, who he has been solid against with 1 hit in 3 at-bats. Even stars are due for a mediocre game, and I think we’ll see that be the case tonight.
Max Meyer Over 5.5 Hits allowed (+102 per DraftKings)
While Max Meyer has been a solid option for the Marlins this season, he goes up against a tough division opponent tonight in the Atlanta Braves on the road. Meyer comes in with a 3.68 ERA in 14.2 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts, and a 1.36 WHIP. In his 3 respective starts this season, we have seen him give up 5 hits, 3 hits, and 4 hits, which obviously all would result in the under here. Meyer did have one appearance against the Braves last season where he gave up a whopping 8 hits, which also happened to be at Truist Park. I expect much of the same tonight, considering the limited turnover in the Braves lineup.
New York Mets vs. Los Angeles Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Nolan McLean Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-105 per DraftKings)
Mets starter Nolan McLean has been a really solid pitcher to start the season and has been one of the best in the rotation behind maybe just Clay Holmes. He also comes in with a crazy 20 strikeouts, which comes out to over 6.5 strikeouts per game. Looking at the game breakdowns, though, we see he had 8 in his opening start against the Pirates, 4 in his second against the Giants, and 8 again against the Diamondbacks. This evening he is going up against essentially an All-Star lineup in the Dodgers, who are averaging 8.8 strikeouts per game, which would only give McLean about 5 strikeouts considering he likely won’t pitch much more than 5 innings.
