Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
Jaxson Dart (under 36.5 rush yards -109): Through two games as the starting quarterback for the New York Giants, Jaxson Dart has rushed for 54 and 55 yards, respectively. One of the biggest concerns with Dart so far is his tendency to abandon a clean pocket too early in search of rushing opportunities. Eagles’ defensive coordinator Vic Fangio is known for neutralizing an opponent’s strengths, and he’ll almost certainly assign a spy to Dart—especially given the Giants depleted receiving corps without Malik Nabers. Philadelphia has already faced three quarterbacks this season who can threaten defenses with their legs: Patrick Mahomes, Baker Mayfield, and Bo Nix. In those games, Mahomes rushed for 66 yards, while Mayfield managed just 13 and Nix 22. While Mahomes’ rushing total might raise an eyebrow, his passing ability presents a much greater overall challenge.

Last week’s game against the Broncos was particularly puzzling, as he finished with only six carries. Many have speculated that this was a result of A.J. Brown’s vocal frustrations the previous week about not getting enough targets. In a short week, however, I expect the Eagles to return to their bread and butter — running the football. Barkley is dealing with a minor knee issue heading into this matchup, which is worth monitoring, but last season against the Giants he rushed for 176 yards on just 17 carries. I expect a similar approach this week given the condensed turnaround.
Jalen Hurts (under 196.5 pass yards -113): Jalen Hurts didn’t play poorly by any means last week when the Eagles opened up the passing game against the Broncos. That approach, however, doesn’t align with the team’s identity. I expect a heavier dose of short passes this week, mixed with RPOs and traditional readoption plays on the ground. Through five games, Hurts has averaged just 177.8 passing yards per contest and typically carries a high rushing workload — last week being the exception. In his lone performance against the Giants last season, he attempted only 14 passes for 114 yards, and I anticipate a similar game plan this time around.
