Alec Bohm Over 1.5 Total Bases (+109 per DraftKings)

The Philadelphia Phillies wrap up their series against the Cincinnati Reds this afternoon in a rubber match with the series tied 1-1. One of the biggest reasons for Philadelphia’s recent offensive surge has been the turnaround of Alec Bohm at the plate.

After an awful start to the season, Bohm has finally pushed his batting average back above .200 for the first time since April 6th. The month of May has been especially strong for him, as he is currently batting .345 with a .569 slugging percentage.

Bohm has already been excellent in this series, accumulating 7 total bases while clearing the 1.5 total bases mark in both games so far. Looking at a larger sample size, he has now surpassed that mark in 6 of his last 10 games overall.

The Reds will turn to left-hander Andrew Abbott this afternoon, and Bohm has historically seen him very well. In 4 career at-bats against Abbott, Bohm owns 3 hits and a massive 1.917 OPS. He has also been significantly better against left-handed pitching this season, batting .245 with a .490 slugging percentage in those matchups.

With Bohm swinging the bat confidently right now and already producing consistently in this series, this looks like another strong opportunity for him to continue stacking extra bases.

Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins 6:40 PM ET

Michael Harris Over 1.5 Total Bases (+106 per DraftKings)

Game 3 of 4 between the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins gets underway tonight, with both teams having secured one win apiece. We also get a strong pitching matchup between Chris Sale and Janson Junk.

Michael Harris II is coming off an excellent performance yesterday, going 2-for-5 with a home run and 5 total bases. Harris has always been the type of hitter capable of catching fire quickly after a rough stretch, and it looks like he may be starting to find his rhythm again.

While Harris is just 0-for-2 against Junk in his career, his overall splits against right-handed pitching this season have been outstanding. Against righties, Harris is batting .318 with a .523 slugging percentage.

Given his recent momentum, his success against right-handed pitching, and now having already seen Junk previously, this feels like another favorable setup for Harris to produce multiple total bases tonight.

Xavier Edwards Over 0.5 Hits (-241 per DraftKings)

Xavier Edwards extended his hitting streak to five games yesterday, and he did so in dramatic fashion by going deep. Tonight presents a much tougher challenge as he faces veteran ace Chris Sale for the first time in his career.

Even with the difficult matchup, Edwards has been outstanding against left-handed pitching this season, batting .341 with a .636 slugging percentage against southpaws.

Sale has obviously been dominant this season overall, but opposing hitters have still managed to generate some contact against him recently. In each of his last two outings, Sale has allowed 5 hits.

Edwards has simply been too consistent offensively to ignore right now, and even in a difficult pitching matchup, his contact ability gives him a strong chance to keep the hitting streak alive tonight.

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals 6:45 PM ET

Zach Thornton Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-117 per DraftKings)

Tonight marks the MLB debut of Zach Thornton for the New York Mets, and the young left-hander draws a fairly favorable matchup against the Washington Nationals.

Thornton features a deep five-pitch mix consisting of a fastball, curveball, slider, cutter, and changeup, giving him multiple weapons capable of generating swing-and-miss. During his time in Triple-A this season, Thornton posted a strong 9.73 K/9, showing legitimate strikeout upside.

Washington has also been prone to strikeouts this year, currently ranking 11th in MLB with 415 strikeouts on the season. Their lineup also tends to lean heavily left-handed, which could allow Thornton to utilize his full pitch mix effectively in favorable matchups.

There will naturally be nerves involved in making an MLB debut, but Thornton’s strikeout profile and the matchup itself create a solid opportunity for him to reach at least four strikeouts tonight.
